Description

Comforting and easy candied yams with a sweet and spiced glaze, perfect for any occasion.


Ingredients

  • 4 large sweet potatoes
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 cup water

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Peel and slice the sweet potatoes into rounds, about 1/4 to 1/2 inch thick.
  3. In a large saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat.
  4. Stir in the brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, vanilla extract, and salt until combined.
  5. Add the sweet potatoes to the saucepan, stirring to coat.
  6. Add water to the mixture and bring to a simmer.
  7. Transfer the mixture to a baking dish and cover with foil.
  8. Bake for 45 minutes, then remove the foil and bake for an additional 15 minutes until the potatoes are tender and the sauce is bubbly.
  9. Serve warm and enjoy!
