Description

A rich yet light dessert combining dense brownies with airy mousse, perfect for a simple gathering or a calming evening treat.


Ingredients

  • 1 cup unsalted butter
  • 8 ounces bittersweet chocolate, chopped
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 2 tablespoons powdered sugar
  • 1 cup chocolate ganache (store-bought or homemade)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×13 inch baking pan.
  2. Melt the butter and chopped chocolate together in a saucepan over low heat until smooth.
  3. Stir in the granulated sugar until fully combined.
  4. Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition, then stir in the vanilla extract.
  5. Gently fold in the flour and salt until just combined.
  6. Pour the brownie batter into the prepared pan and spread evenly.
  7. Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted comes out with a few moist crumbs.
  8. Let the brownies cool completely in the pan.
  9. Whip the heavy cream with powdered sugar until soft peaks form.
  10. Spread the whipped cream over the cooled brownies.
  11. Drizzle the ganache over the mousse layer.
  12. Chill in the refrigerator for at least 2 hours before slicing and serving.

Notes

Use room-temperature eggs for better blending. For cleaner edges on slices, warm your knife between cuts.
