Description

Delicious and easy French Dip Tortilla Roll Ups filled with provolone cheese, roast beef, and crispy onions, served with a warm au jus for dipping.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 large flour tortillas, about 12 inches in diameter
  • 8 slices provolone cheese, thinly sliced
  • 12 ounces deli roast beef, freshly sliced
  • 1 cup French fried onions
  • 2 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil
  • 1 can (10.5 ounces) beef consommé
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 teaspoons low sodium soy sauce
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder

Instructions

  1. Set oven to 425°F (220°C) and line a rimmed baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Lay a tortilla flat and place 2 slices of provolone cheese over half of it. Add approximately 3 ounces of roast beef and a generous handful of French fried onions.
  3. Brush the inside edge of the tortilla lightly with olive oil.
  4. Starting from the filled end, roll up the tortilla tightly and press the oiled edge to seal. Place seam-side down on the baking sheet.
  5. Repeat with the remaining tortillas, keeping the rolls snug on the sheet.
  6. Brush tops and sides of each roll with the remaining olive oil.
  7. Bake for 8–10 minutes or until golden brown and cheese begins to bubble at the edges.
  8. While roll ups bake, combine consommé, water, Worcestershire sauce, soy sauce, onion powder, and garlic powder in a small saucepan. Heat over medium and whisk to blend; simmer for 3–4 minutes until hot and fragrant.
  9. Let baked roll ups rest for 2 minutes on a wire rack before slicing.
  10. Serve slices on a platter with warm au jus for dipping.

Notes

Rolls can be assembled ahead of time and refrigerated. They also freeze well unbaked for future use.
