Description

Delicious soft cinnamon rolls featuring a gentle chocolate flavor and topped with a tangy cream cheese glaze, perfect for a special occasion or a cozy weekend treat.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup cocoa powder
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 packet instant yeast
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup milk, warm
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 large egg, room temperature
  • 1 tablespoon red food coloring
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 cup cream cheese, full-fat
  • 1/4 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 tablespoons milk

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, mix flour, cocoa powder, sugar, yeast, and salt.
  2. In a saucepan, heat milk and butter until warm. Add to the dry ingredients.
  3. Add egg, food coloring, and vanilla, then mix until a dough forms.
  4. Knead for 5-7 minutes until smooth. Let it rise for 1 hour, or until doubled in size.
  5. Roll out the dough into a rectangle, spread with softened butter, sprinkle with brown sugar and cinnamon. Roll tightly into a log and cut into rolls.
  6. Place in a greased baking pan, cover, and let rise for 30 minutes.
  7. Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 20-25 minutes.
  8. For the frosting, mix cream cheese, powdered sugar, vanilla, and milk until smooth.
  9. Once rolls are baked, let cool slightly and top with cream cheese frosting before serving.

Notes

Use room-temperature ingredients for better integration. Refrigerate shaped rolls overnight for a fresh bake in the morning.
