- 1 sheet store-bought puff pastry (thawed to package directions)
- 4 oz cream cheese (at room temperature)
- 2 tbsp white sugar
- 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
- Red food coloring (optional)
- 1/2 cup diced strawberries
- 1 large egg
- 1 tbsp cold water
Instructions
- Thaw the puff pastry sheet as per package directions.
- Preheat the oven to 400°F and line a large baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a small bowl, beat the cream cheese with the white sugar and vanilla extract until smooth. Add red food coloring if desired.
- Dice the strawberries into small pieces and pat them dry with a paper towel.
- Unfold the puff pastry on a floured surface, cut into heart shapes.
- Spoon cream cheese filling onto each pastry heart, top with diced strawberries.
- Whisk the egg with cold water and brush the edges of the pastry.
- Bake at 400°F for 12-16 minutes until golden.
- Cool for 8-12 minutes on a wire rack before serving.
Notes
These danishes can be served warm or at room temperature. Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 3 days.
