Delicious and flaky danishes filled with cream cheese and fresh strawberries, perfect for any time of the day.

- 1 package frozen puff pastry (two sheets), thawed but still cool
- 8 ounces cream cheese, softened
- 1/3 cup granulated sugar
- 1 large egg, room temperature
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 pound fresh strawberries, hulled and sliced
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- 1 tablespoon granulated sugar (for berries)
- 1 teaspoon cornstarch
- 1 egg yolk + 1 tablespoon water for egg wash
- 1/2 cup powdered sugar + 1–2 teaspoons milk for glaze
- Optional: lemon zest, almond extract, or sliced almonds for topping
Instructions
- Thaw pastry in the refrigerator until pliable but cool. Preheat the oven to 400°F.
- Beat cream cheese with sugar, egg, and vanilla until smooth.
- Toss strawberries with lemon juice, 1 tablespoon sugar, and cornstarch.
- On a floured surface, roll out puff pastry sheets and cut into squares.
- Spoon cream cheese filling into the center of each square and top with strawberries.
- Brush pastry edges with egg wash, then bake on a parchment-lined sheet for 15-20 minutes until golden.
- Let cool for 10 minutes, then glaze with powdered sugar mixture.
- Serve warm or at room temperature.
Notes
For best texture, avoid stacking danishes directly on top of one another while storing.
