Description

A simple and reliable heart-shaped cake that brings warmth and joy to weeknight desserts or small celebrations.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 cup milk
  • Buttercream frosting (for decorating)
  • Food coloring (optional for decoration)
  • Piping tips

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two heart-shaped cake pans.
  2. In a bowl, mix the flour, baking powder, and salt until evenly distributed.
  3. In another bowl, cream the butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Add eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla extract.
  4. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, alternating with milk, until smooth.
  5. Divide the batter between the two pans and bake for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  6. Let the cakes cool completely before removing from pans.
  7. Frost the cooled cakes with buttercream frosting using piping tips for decorative designs.
  8. Add food coloring to frosting if desired and pipe on decorations.

Notes

For best results, use room-temperature ingredients and keep the cake covered to maintain moisture.
